Marlon Apple Pie Fayre
Sunday, 30 July

This traditional event has it's roots back in the 1880's, where as part of an annual fair and sports day, local farmer George Hill would always bring an enormous apple pie, the size of a kitchen table. 'The Marldon Pie' became quite a feature of the fayre, being paraded around by George on a donkey cart and then eaten by all the villagers. After his death the fayre still carried on the tradition of the apple pie up until the early 20th Century.

The fayre was revived in 1955 and became Marldon Apple Pie Fair and has been an annual event on the last Saturday in July ever since. It's a great fun day out for all ages with a Carnival procession, donkeys, craft marque, music, dogs shows, a hog roast, beer tent, the fair princess and of course plenty of fantastic apple pies!
